These dreary, drizzly, grey days of fall make us want a color pick-me-up, and we’ve found just the thing – brightly colored throws from Simple Things!
An Irish company with a contemporary design sense, they create colorful throws that are the perfect antidote for rainy days.
Beat the blahs and the chill with these fun colors:
All of the throws are made from alpaca. Alpaca fleece is light and up to 30% warmer than the same weight of merino wool. Alpaca has no lanolin content, meaning it’s hypoallergenic, which together with an absence of the ‘prickle factor’ associated with ordinary wool makes it ideally suited for babies and sensitive skins. It is up to 4 times harder wearing than the best wool and does not pill or ball.
These cozy throws make great gifts for hostesses, friends and family – and yourself!
It’s the most magical time of the year – and often the most stressful. From shopping and traveling, to baking, cleaning and decorating, we have a lot to do and never enough time to do it all.
To help keep us sane, never mind in the holiday spirit, we’ve found it’s important to take some time to relax in the midst of all the bustle.
One of our favorite antidotes to holiday stress is scented candles. It only takes a minute to light a candle, and the lovely scent and soft glow set the perfect relaxing tone for the end of the day. There are so many wonderful scents to choose from –
Pumpkin Chai creates a cozy autumn ambience with a blend of wild pumpkin, spicy Masala chai, cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon.
Flowering Bamboo is mingled with a variety of white florals, sparkling citrus and fresh green accords.
Wild Oats and Bourbon is a great, non-floral scent for men. Wild oats and mandarin ginger are blended with the essence of bourbon.
The Elton John Holiday scent was designed by the artist in collaboration with NEST Fragrances. A blend of evergreen and balsam fir needles combined with rich woods and a sparkling citrus accord.
There are many more…
Scented candles are a great gift for yourself! They also make wonderful gifts for hostesses, family, friends and anyone who might be a little difficult to shop for. According to this article in the Wall Street Journal, they are a go-to gift item this season.
Our NEST candles are beautifully packaged in gift boxes for that extra touch of luxury that your gift recipients will appreciate. And they smell luxurious, too!

Each holiday season for nearly half a century, the folks at Royal Copenhagen ask several Danish celebrities to each decorate a holiday table. This year’s theme was “Songs of Christmas” as all of the celebrities were singers. We love their designs – some classic, some modern, and all beautifully celebrating the holiday spirit.
We hope they inspire you in your own holiday table settings!
We hope you enjoyed the holiday tables! If you happen to be traveling in or around Denmark, you can view them in person at the Royal Copenhagen flagship store on Amagertorv 6, 1160 Copenhagen K through the end of December.
Our largest sale of the year is here, with discounts of up to 75% off! Quantities are limited, so shop early for the best selection! Here are a few highlights:

I pulled a little from here & there. The bird/butterfly dessert plates are from my mother’s family, and the yellow pottery dinner plates from Italy. The stemware is high/low. Crystal stems are Gianni Versace white hobnail is plastic from Martha Stewart. You might recognize the dinner napkins, custom designed by Gracious style.

In the picture you can see ribbon wrapped bundles. These are all the Christmas cards my family has ever received (I’ve saved every last one of them!). I bundle them up every year and use them to decorate our table. They are a wonderful conversion piece as most guests (at least during the dessert course) like to open a past year and look back at friends and family’s Christmas cards.

I purchased Vietri gold plates and paired them with my Wedgwood china. I also used Kim Seybert napkins with pearl and gold napkin rings. – Carmel
