Swooning Over Elad Yifrach’s L’Objet Gilded Collection

About a year and a half ago, my fiance and I embarked on the wedding registry. Overwhelmed hardly even begins to describe the road to decorating a home for us. Today we have all of the practical items – the dishes, the silverware, and basic serving dishes. But alas, our tabletop lacks character. Then I came across the L’Objet collection, and my heart went pitter-patter.

Just as in fashion, my tastes ever lean to all that’s sparkly. Metallics speak to me. With stunning silverware and gold-dipped pieces helming his collection, L’Objet’s founder and designer Elad Yifrach evokes a Mediterranean heritage filled with ancient imagery and design.

Intrigued, I set out to learn more about the designer. As it turns out, Yifrach honed his skills not in earthenware and precious metals, but in interior design. Prior to founding L’Objet in 2004, Israeli-born Yifrach was a successful designer in Beverly Hills. He was creating beautiful interiors, but he was frustrated by the limited options available in home accessories, so he set out to create something better.

L’Objet’s collections are diverse, but they are almost always inspired by nature and architecture. Many of his exquisite serving pieces rest in a base of hand-crafted gold foliage, other pieces feature intricate design and beadwork, and some of the most striking objects actually look like miniature buildings. And despite the lux feel, much of the line is practical with just a touch of whimsy.

Pieces from L’Objet are meant to be enjoyed; the designs are thus both luxurious and functional. And of course, I’m charmed by the idea that my everyday serving bowls have me feeling like Cleopatra at dinner!
