Yellow Clearwings

The Clearwing butterflies hail from an otherwise dull family of small butterflies called "browns." They are unique creatures as their wings are almost wholly clear, except for the marked veins and a light flush of color on the hind wings. The shadow cast by the veins and markings of the wings, seen through the translucent scales, makes for an almost 3-D effect against a white background.
